A newly revealed affidavit from the FBI sheds light on a chilling case involving 17-year-old Nikita Casap of Wisconsin, who allegedly killed his parents, stole $14,000 in cash, and was planning a drone-based attack on President Donald Trump. Authorities discovered that Casap had been in contact through Telegram with a user linked to a foreign phone number registered to Vodafone Ukraine — one of the nation’s biggest mobile networks.
The Telegram account, tied to the number +380 50 259 5318, was operating in Ukrainian Cyrillic and used the display name “PoМаН ВіКТОВИЧ,” which translates to Roman Viktorovich. This mysterious figure is believed to have been part of a broader network guiding Casap in his efforts.
How Investigators Verified the Origin Was Ukrainian:

The document notes that Casap interacted with at least two individuals using Cyrillic characters. The name “ВіКТОВИЧ” specifically points to Ukrainian linguistic roots through phonetic and spelling analysis.
These Telegram exchanges were only part of the larger, disturbing plan laid out by Casap. After murdering his mother and stepfather, he stole $14,000 to fund the purchase of a weaponized drone, which he intended to use in a plot to assassinate Donald Trump. According to federal investigators, he received instructions on how to hide his parents’ bodies — dragging them into the basement — and was guided on switching license plates on his stepfather’s vehicle to avoid police.
The route he was instructed to take — from southeastern Wyoming through Kansas to a secluded area near Pumpkin Center, Oklahoma, and then on to California — appeared to be carefully designed to evade capture. It’s believed he was planning to flee to Ukraine, where he even asked his contact if a “normal life” would be possible after everything he’d done.
One encrypted message reportedly included the phrase “200 wheels,” which investigators suspect was code for explosive parts or shrapnel intended for use in a deadly drone strike.
This isn’t the first time individuals have attempted to harm Trump using foreign communication tools. Thomas Matthew Crooks, the 20-year-old shooter from Pennsylvania who targeted Trump at a political rally, was also reportedly using encrypted apps linked to overseas servers. However, the FBI has yet to reveal the names of these platforms or the identities of those he communicated with.
Then there’s Ryan Wesley Routh — another would-be assassin — who arrived at Trump’s golf club in Florida armed with a Soviet-era rifle. He was later identified in a propaganda video published by the X account @save_mrpl, which is connected to Ukraine’s Azov Battalion. The video’s creator, Олександр Алфьоров (Oleksandr Alforov), appears to also run a YouTube channel under the same name, tying him to the group’s media wing.
The FBI affidavit also indicates Casap was heavily influenced by propaganda from two extremist organizations: the Order of Nine Angles (O9A) and the Misanthropic Division (MD). Both groups are known to promote violent ideologies and have an international presence — with the Misanthropic Division notably involved in combat alongside Azov forces during the conflict in Eastern Ukraine.
