Earlier today, India initiated a military operation—reportedly named Operation Sindoor—aimed at dismantling what it identifies as terrorist bases operating within Pakistan and the region of Jammu and Kashmir currently under Pakistani control. These locations, according to Indian sources, have been used to orchestrate attacks against India.
Officials emphasized that the strikes were calculated, restrained, and carefully executed to avoid further escalation. Indian forces reportedly avoided hitting any official Pakistani military facilities, instead focusing solely on suspected terror hubs.
In a statement released by the Indian Ministry of Defense, the operation was described as a direct response to a recent deadly assault believed to have been backed by elements within Pakistan:
“This action follows the horrific Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 25 Indian nationals and one Nepali citizen. Our response has been deliberate and proportional. Care was taken not to involve the Pakistani military directly, and our selection of targets reflects that restraint.”
According to reports, nine specific locations were targeted in both Pakistani territory and the Pakistan-administered portion of Kashmir. The missile strikes are said to have hit Kotli, Muzaffarabad, and Bahawalpur, all within Pakistan.

Following the incident, Pakistani military spokesperson Maj. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry issued a stern warning, signaling that retaliation is inevitable:
“Pakistan reserves the right to respond at a moment and location of our choosing. Such provocative actions will not be ignored.”
Just days earlier, Pakistan’s defense minister had raised alarms about a potential Indian military incursion, citing rising hostilities after a deadly attack on tourists in the Kashmir region. The attack left 26 people dead and ignited public fury across India, particularly among its Hindu majority, further straining relations with Muslim-majority Pakistan.
India has long accused its neighbor of supporting insurgent groups operating in the disputed Kashmir territory—a region that has been a flashpoint for past wars between the two nations.
U.S. President Donald Trump briefly addressed the situation:
“It’s unfortunate. We had just learned about it while entering the Oval Office. People seemed to expect something might happen, given the history. These two nations have been at odds for generations. I sincerely hope this doesn’t spiral further.”
