FBI Director Kash Patel Responds to False Accusations of FBI Agent Involvement in “Honeypot” Operation Targeting Trump Campaign
FBI Director Kash Patel responded on Friday to false accusations linking a female FBI agent to the covert “honeypot” operation led by former FBI Director James Comey during the 2016 election. The operation, which was separate from the official Crossfire Hurricane investigation, aimed to target President Trump’s 2016 campaign based on false allegations of Russian collusion.

The operation, described as “off-the-books,” involved two undercover female agents deployed to monitor the Trump campaign. One of the agents was transferred to the CIA to avoid being involved in future investigations, while the second agent was promoted to a high-ranking position at the FBI.
Kash Patel Defends FBI Agent Falsely Accused of Honeypot Involvement
FBI Director Kash Patel swiftly pushed back against media claims that a female FBI agent was involved in the controversial “honeypot” operation. Patel assured the public that the agent had done nothing wrong, emphasizing that the FBI is committed to transparency, accountability, and justice.
“The American people deserve an FBI that is transparent and accountable. Just like when I led investigations into Crossfire Hurricane, I will defend those falsely attacked. This female agent was wrongfully identified in a whistleblower disclosure — she was NOT a honeypot,” Patel said.

Patel confirmed that he personally reviewed the case and found no evidence of wrongdoing by the agent. Additionally, Special Counsel John Durham’s investigation found no misconduct. Patel further stated, “This agent has dedicated her career to public service, and I will have her back.”

FBI’s Commitment to High Standards and Accountability
Patel concluded, “I am committed to ensuring accountability within the FBI, but we do not engage in guilt by association. The FBI will always maintain its high standards, and those who deviate will not remain part of this agency. This agent is here to stay.”
