A tragic nightclub disaster has shaken the Dominican Republic, with nearly 100 confirmed dead and more than 150 injured.
Jet Set Nightclub Roof Collapses During Concert
The roof of the Jet Set nightclub in Santo Domingo collapsed just after 12:45 a.m. during a live performance. The building caved in while Dominican singer Ruby Perez was performing. He was among the fatalities, according to officials.

The incident occurred during a high-profile concert attended by many public figures, including politicians and celebrities.
Rescue Teams Continue Searching for Survivors
Emergency workers have been digging through concrete and debris for over 24 hours. The goal is to find survivors trapped beneath the rubble.
“We have already rescued several people. Our teams are still working nonstop,” said Juan Manuel Méndez, director of the Emergency Operations Center.
Death Toll Continues to Climb
The official death toll now stands at 98 people, with over 150 more injured. The number is expected to rise as crews search the site.
Former American baseball star Octavio Dotel has also been confirmed among the dead.
President Pledges Full Support
President Luis Abinader addressed the nation, assuring citizens that all government resources are being used for rescue efforts.
“Our top priority is saving lives. We’re monitoring everything minute by minute,” Abinader said.
“We pray that more people can be rescued alive.”
Investigation Into Cause Still Ongoing
Authorities are investigating the cause of the collapse. It’s unclear when the building was last inspected. Reports suggest that building oversight in the country is often limited.
Jet Set nightclub has been a landmark in the capital since 1973. It has operated for over 50 years as both a restaurant and nightclub.
