Mike Benz, founder of the Foundation for Freedom Online, recently appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience, a widely popular podcast with over 19 million subscribers.
Explosive Claims on USAID Misuse
Although the interview was recorded weeks ago, a key clip from their discussion is now making waves on social media. During the conversation, Benz accused former President Barack Obama of misusing USAID funds. Instead of delivering humanitarian aid overseas, Obama allegedly funneled taxpayer money to train protest groups, often referred to as “rent-a-mobs.”
This revelation, while alarming, may not be entirely unexpected given past accusations of government overreach and financial manipulation.

Secret Social Media Operations
In the podcast, Benz detailed how USAID pumped $1.2 billion into activist organizations. These groups reportedly received training on using Facebook, Twitter, and hashtags to organize street protests.
He claimed that the goal was to create a movement that appeared organic but was actually orchestrated behind the scenes. The funds allegedly helped activists coordinate their actions, select protest locations, and develop slogans promoting democracy.

Covert Digital Influence in Cuba
Benz also highlighted a specific USAID-funded project in Cuba. According to him, the Obama administration created a social media platform identical to Twitter, called Zunzuneo—Cuban slang for “hummingbird.”
The platform, which ran between 2010 and the Arab Spring uprisings, initially focused on neutral content like sports and weather updates. However, once enough users subscribed, political messages were allegedly introduced to stir dissent against the Cuban government.
Redirected Funds and Offshore Accounts
The most shocking claim involved the financial structure behind these operations. Benz alleged that funds earmarked for Pakistani aid were secretly rerouted to Cayman Islands bank accounts. These offshore transactions allegedly financed the entire program while keeping it hidden from public scrutiny.
This revelation raises serious questions about the transparency of government spending and the real objectives behind foreign aid programs.
As this story unfolds, many are demanding answers regarding the alleged misuse of taxpayer dollars for political and social manipulation abroad.
