Stacey Abrams EPA Scandal: $2 Billion Election-Year Funding Exposed
Stacey Abrams, the former Georgia gubernatorial candidate, is linked to a $2 billion funding program from the Biden administration’s EPA. The funds were approved just months before the election, raising concerns about the program’s timing and purpose.
Biden’s EPA and Stacey Abrams: The $2 Billion Controversy
In an MSNBC interview, Abrams discussed her program Vitalizing DeSoto. This initiative, which replaced old appliances in a Georgia town, was called a “climate justice” project. However, critics argue that it might have been used to gain voter support just before the election.
Taxpayer-Funded Program Raises Concerns
The timing of this funding has sparked significant debate. For instance, former President Donald Trump called it an election-year “slush fund.”
“Take $1.9 billion to a new Decarbonization of Homes Committee. We know Stacey Abrams is involved. Just at the last moment, the money was given to her,” Trump said.
Instead of denying the connection, Abrams confirmed her role. She explained that the program helped provide energy-efficient appliances to 75% of DeSoto’s residents, thus reducing their energy costs.

Program Timing and Political Implications
Moreover, Abrams highlighted that one resident’s electric bill dropped from $180 to $98. While this seems like a success, many still question why such large funding was approved right before the election.
Chris Hayes: “The irony is, the program you’re part of helps people lower costs. Is that correct?”
Stacey Abrams: “Yes, exactly.”
Chris Hayes: “So, what does the program do and what’s your involvement?”
Stacey Abrams: “In 2023 and 2024, I led Vitalizing DeSoto. We replaced old appliances with energy-efficient ones, lowering costs for residents. 75% of the town received these new appliances. One resident’s bill dropped from $180 to $98. Based on that, a group asked the EPA to expand it nationwide. The EPA approved the funding.”
EPA Investigation Finds $20 Billion in Questionable Spending
In a recent revelation, EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin disclosed that billions of taxpayer dollars were spent with little oversight. As a result, the EPA is now under intense scrutiny.
An undercover video from Project Veritas showed EPA Advisor Brent Efron admitting that funds were rushed through before a potential Trump administration. Efron said, “We’re throwing gold bars off the Titanic,” which exposed the wasteful spending.
In response, Zeldin confirmed that $20 billion of taxpayer money was placed in an outside account, with no proper review. This was the first time in EPA history that such a move was allowed.

Abrams-Linked Organization Gets $2 Billion
Furthermore, Zeldin revealed that $2 billion of the $20 billion went to Power Forward Communities, a nonprofit tied to Stacey Abrams.
Investigations showed that Power Forward Communities was founded in late 2023. Despite having no experience handling large sums, the organization received $2 billion in April 2024 under the EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund.
Although the nonprofit received significant funding, it reported only $100 in revenue during its first three months.
Abrams’ Financial Controversies
Additionally, this isn’t the first time organizations connected to Stacey Abrams have faced scrutiny. For example, Francys Johnson, the leader of The New Georgia Project, resigned after being fined $300,000 for illegal campaign fundraising.
The New Georgia Project raised $4.2 million in dark money, and $3.2 million of it was illegally spent on campaign activities.
Johnson’s resignation adds to concerns about transparency in Abrams-affiliated organizations. Critics argue that taxpayer funds are being misused for political purposes.
