Some progressive voices have grown so reactive to Donald Trump that even his calm remarks spark outrage.

New Book Shares Post-Election Drama
Author Chris Whipple reveals a private moment in his upcoming book Uncharted: How Trump Beat Biden, Harris, and the Odds in the Wildest Campaign in History. One story involves Kamala Harris’s phone call to Trump after her major election loss.
A Botched Call and a Surprising Exchange
As The Daily Mail reported, Harris’s team mishandled the call transfer. But eventually, she reached Trump directly.
Despite calling Trump a “fascist” and “existential threat” just days earlier, Harris addressed him respectfully. She had also labeled him a racist and bigot throughout her campaign.

Harris Stays Polite Despite Major Loss
Whipple writes that Harris remained courteous, even while feeling the impact of her crushing defeat.
Trump Responds with Grace and Humor
Trump’s response was unexpectedly gracious. He praised Harris for her effort and even complimented her husband, Doug.
“You’re a tough cookie,” he said. “You ran a great campaign. And that Doug — what a character! I love that guy.”
Staffer Outrage Follows the Call
While most would see Trump’s comments as respectful, one of Harris’s staffers didn’t agree.
“I was like, what?” she said, as quoted by Whipple. “It felt so manipulative.”
She continued, “He’s a sociopath.”
Questioning the Double Standard
If Trump is called a sociopath, what does that make Harris? She reportedly accepted Democratic insiders removing Biden, allowing her rise.
Harris also faced past criticism for copying content. Her 2010 book Smart on Crime reportedly pulled material from Wikipedia and other sources.
