The Blues are reportedly leading the race to sign Kobbie Mainoo, as negotiations for a new deal with Manchester United have reportedly stalled.
The Red Devils are keen to secure Mainoo with a new deal, even though his existing contract is valid until the summer of 2027. However, discussions regarding an extension seem to have stalled.
It is believed that Financial Fair Play restrictions prevent United from offering Mainoo terms comparable to those of their highest-paid players, and they no longer view him as indispensable.
Meanwhile, the player is said to have “reservations” about the club’s trajectory and their failure to compete for Champions League qualification. Maino had and important role at his club in his teenage years but this could be his final season at the Old Traford.
