The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has launched an investigation into a radio station linked to leftist billionaire George Soros. The station allegedly revealed the real-time locations of undercover Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents.
FCC Inquiry into KCBS 740
Last year, a Soros-backed group acquired stakes in over 200 Audacy radio stations across the United States, including KCBS 740 in San Francisco. Reports suggest that KCBS 740 broadcasted live locations of ICE agents during deportation operations in San Jose.
According to Fox News Digital, the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau has sent a formal Letter of Inquiry to KCBS 740. Authorities are assessing whether the station violated FCC regulations, which require broadcasters to serve the public interest. The letter also mentioned that ICE agents were operating in an area known for violent gang activity.
FCC Commissioner Responds
FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr praised DHS and ICE agents for their service, stating:
“These law enforcement professionals serve our country honorably and carry out vital missions. Their safety is paramount. The FCC will hold broadcasters accountable for complying with their public interest obligations.”
KCBS 740’s Controversial Broadcast
The controversy began after a January 26 broadcast on KCBS 740. Host Bret Burkhart reported that San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan and Councilmember Peter Ortiz had confirmed an ongoing ICE operation in East San Jose.
The Santa Clara County Rapid Response Network, an organization that assists immigrants facing deportation threats, was the first to report the activity. The network identified unmarked ICE vehicles and shared their colors and locations. Burkhart further stated:
“Stay with KCBS, we will be tracking it for you.”
Deportation Operations Under Trump’s Orders
This report comes as federal authorities conduct nationwide deportation operations under President Trump’s directive. The operation targets violent illegal immigrants convicted or charged with serious crimes, including murder, child rape, and assault with deadly weapons.
