Vice President JD Vance Relocates After Pro-Ukraine Protests in Vermont
Vice President JD Vance and his family were forced to relocate to a secure location after pro-Ukraine protesters gathered at the Vermont ski resort where they were vacationing. This protest came shortly after a heated exchange between Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House.
Vance had planned a four-day stay at Sugarbush Resort in Waitsfield, Vermont. However, the protests grew large, and the Vance family had to cut their trip short. Demonstrators lined Route 100, holding signs calling Vance a “traitor” and telling the family to “go ski in Russia.”

Protests Escalate Over Vance’s Ukraine Stance
The protests stretched for nearly half a mile along the road leading to the resort. They were fueled by the recent confrontation between Vance and Zelensky. Protesters carried signs with messages like “Support Ukraine” and “Have you no shame?” At one point, counter-protesters with “Make America Great Again” flags appeared. The two groups clashed, adding to the tense atmosphere.
Vance Family Moves for Safety Amid Protests
As the protests grew, the Vance family decided to leave their accommodations at a nearby four-star inn. They moved to a safer, undisclosed location. Some protesters even camped by a ski lift in an attempt to find the Vice President and his family.
The protests, which had been planned earlier in the week, escalated following the White House meeting. During that meeting, Vance publicly criticized Zelensky. He called it disrespectful for Zelensky to argue about U.S. aid in front of the media. Vance also raised concerns about Ukraine’s treatment of conscripts, stating, “You should be thanking the president for trying to end this conflict.”
Protests Broaden to Criticize Vance’s Stance on Ukraine
The protests, which began as criticism of Trump’s policies, soon expanded to target Vance’s foreign policy stance on Ukraine. Activists from various groups, including the LGBTQ+ community, voiced their concerns about trans rights and immigration policies under the Trump administration.

Governor Phil Scott Urges Respect Amid Protests
Vermont Governor Phil Scott (D) called for respect for Vance and his family during their vacation. He reminded Vermonters that Vance was visiting with his young children and encouraged a welcoming atmosphere despite political differences.
Protests Continue Over the Weekend
The protests continued throughout the weekend. The Vice President’s office did not release further details about the family’s location for security reasons. Despite the protests, the situation drew attention to Vance’s stance on Ukraine and his role in the ongoing political drama with President Zelensky.
