McNabb’s life-altering moment occurred when a volleyball struck her face. It was traveling at 70 miles per hour, hit by a transgender opponent. This injury caused severe medical issues and altered her path forever.

After the injury, McNabb turned her personal tragedy into advocacy. She speaks out against transgender athletes in women’s sports, gaining national attention.
Her advocacy caught the attention of President Donald Trump. He invited McNabb as a guest to his joint address to Congress.
“I’m honored and so grateful for the invitation,” McNabb told Fox News.
She sees the invitation as Trump’s support for her cause.
“I know Trump supports our fight and what I’ve been doing for two years,” McNabb added.
McNabb is realistic about the chance of being mentioned during the speech. But she remains optimistic and thankful for the recognition.
“I won’t assume anything, but if he mentions me, I’ll be so grateful,” she said.
The Injury and Its Impact
The injury knocked this Athlete McNabb out cold for 30 seconds. She fell into a “fencing” position, a sign of severe neurological trauma.
Doctors diagnosed her with several serious conditions, including:
- Traumatic brain injury
- Concussion
- Right-side paralysis
- Whiplash
- Vision problems
These injuries ended McNabb’s athletic dreams and changed her daily life.
New Challenges and Shattered Dreams
McNabb’s goal of securing a college volleyball scholarship was destroyed. She now faces mobility challenges and often struggles to walk without falling.
At Western Carolina University, McNabb works through academic difficulties. Her brain injury affects her memory and focus, requiring extra academic support.
Besides physical challenges, McNabb also struggles with mental health. Anxiety, depression, and vision problems have significantly impacted her well-being.
Her multi-sport athletic career is now over. McNabb must rebuild her identity and future goals.
