In an explosive interview with Benny Johnson, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) didn’t hold back. He suggested the long-awaited Epstein files may have either been destroyed or altered so heavily that they’re now worthless.
Burchett urged the public to remain skeptical of any government-released documents linked to Epstein, warning that officials would sanitize the records to protect the powerful.
“What’s going on with this list, man?” Johnson pressed, echoing the frustration of millions of Americans fed up with the lack of transparency.
Burchett’s response was blunt: “I don’t think it even exists anymore. They’ve tampered with it. Whatever they put out, we can’t trust. They stalled long enough, and now there’s nothing.”

Burchett Blasts Pam Bondi for Misleading Claims
Burchett also took aim at Attorney General Pam Bondi for her past statements about the files. At one point, she insisted they were in her possession.
“She completely overstepped when she said, ‘It’s sitting on my desk,’” Burchett said. “Why would she even say that? She tried to act like she had control, and it blew up in her face.”
Bondi later admitted that the FBI had misled her about the extent of the files.
“I was told 120 pages were all that existed,” Bondi told Mark Levin. “I kept pushing, saying there had to be more. Kash Patel asked the same thing and got the same answer. Then a whistleblower tipped me off—SDNY had thousands of pages.”
Days later, in a bombshell interview with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, Bondi revealed that the FBI had just received a massive haul of Epstein-related records from SDNY.
She also confirmed that FBI Director Kash Patel had been assigned to investigate why these documents were withheld for so long.
Epstein Files: Just Another Government Cover-Up?
Burchett compared the Epstein scandal to some of the biggest cover-ups in U.S. history—including the JFK assassination files, UFO disclosures, and the hidden details surrounding RFK’s death.
“This is just like the Kennedy files, the UFO reports, and RFK’s case,” he said. “They bury this stuff for decades, then suddenly—when Trump starts making noise about JFK—they ‘discover’ 14,000 new documents out of nowhere.”
Then, with a hint of sarcasm, he added: “What is this—some secret warehouse like in Raiders of the Lost Ark? It’s ridiculous. It’s a cover-up.”
More Lawmakers Question Epstein Document Release
Burchett isn’t alone in raising concerns.
During an interview with Rep. Matt Gaetz on One America News Network (OANN), Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), chair of the Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, also expressed doubts about Bondi’s promised release of Epstein’s client list.
“I’m not confident we’ll see the full list,” Luna said. “I haven’t received a DOJ briefing yet, so I’ll know more tomorrow. But so far, the attorney general keeps saying she’s going to release something. I’ll take her at her word—for now.”
Then she posed the real question: “Will that ‘something’ be the full list? We don’t know. We’ve demanded every document. We want full transparency. But we don’t control declassification. That’s up to the attorney general.”
For now, the Epstein files remain shrouded in secrecy. And if Burchett is right, the real list may never see the light of day.
