A tragic act of violence has claimed the life of 22-year-old rising Latin music artist Maria De La Rosa, known professionally as DELAROSA, after an ambush-style shooting in Los Angeles early Saturday morning.
What Happened in Northridge
The incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. on Bryant Street near Tampa Avenue in the Northridge area of the San Fernando Valley.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, De La Rosa was sitting in a parked vehicle with two other individuals when two male suspects approached on foot and opened fire.
All three occupants were hit. De La Rosa was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she later died from her injuries. The two surviving victims remain in critical condition as of Monday.
Witness Accounts and Police Statement
Witnesses told authorities that the attackers appeared to target the parked vehicle deliberately.
LAPD described the shooting as an “ambush-style attack.”
“Witnesses described seeing two male suspects approach a vehicle that was parked on Bryant Street. Multiple rounds were fired at several victims who were parked in the area in their vehicle,” the department said in a statement.
A Rising Star Gone Too Soon
De La Rosa had recently launched her music career, releasing her debut single “No Me Llames” in August. She was gaining attention as both a singer and a social media personality.
Her final Instagram post—studio photos shared with fans—has now become a memorial page, filled with emotional messages and condolences. Notable tributes came from Mexican-American record executive Jimmy Humilde and Juan Moises, lead singer of Los Gemelos de Sinaloa.
No Arrests Yet as Investigation Continues
As of Monday evening, police have not announced any arrests, and investigators have not shared whether they believe the attack was targeted, random, or tied to a broader conflict.
The Daily Mail reported that detectives are still canvassing the neighborhood for leads.
LAPD is urging anyone with relevant information to contact authorities as the investigation remains ongoing.
