On Tuesday morning, reports emerged that Araujo had chosen to stay at Barcelona for now after discussions with Sporting Director Deco, with the prospect of a new contract also on the table for the 25-year-old defender. According to Jijantes, the talks went beyond mere negotiations, as Araujo has decided to extend his commitment to the Blaugrana. They report that further discussions took place on Tuesday morning, resulting in an agreement between Barcelona and Araujo. His representatives are expected to travel this week to finalize and sign the new contract.
The Old Lady (Juventus) were doing everything to get the defender in January and there were direct calls from Thiago Motta with Ronald to convince him to come to Italy but now after Barca defender changed his mind it seems impossible that this transfer would happen.
