New information has emerged about the suspect involved in the shocking ambush-style shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C., raising concerns that the attack may have been an act of terrorism.
According to early reports, authorities believe the gunman is an Afghan national who allegedly used a handgun to carry out the attack. NBC reporter Tom Winter confirmed that two senior U.S. law enforcement officials identified the suspected shooter and stated he used a handgun during the assault.
Winter also reported that the FBI is treating the case as a potential terrorist incident, at least in the initial stages of the investigation, as agents work to determine whether the shooting was part of a larger threat.

The Gateway Pundit earlier suggested both victims—members of the West Virginia National Guard—had been killed. However, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey later clarified that the situation remains uncertain, noting there are conflicting reports about the condition of the two Guardsmen.
“We will provide additional updates once we receive more complete information,” Morrisey stated.
