President Donald Trump has introduced a controversial program for wealthy foreigners. They can fast-track US citizenship for $1 million.
The Trump Gold Card promises “direct access to citizenship for all qualified and vetted individuals,” Trump said on social media. He highlighted that it helps American companies retain “invaluable talent” globally.
The Gold Card targets high-level professionals. Applicants must show they provide a substantial economic or professional contribution. The $1 million fee serves as proof.
Premium Options for Wealthy Applicants

Businesses sponsoring employees must pay $2 million plus extra fees. A “Platinum” version offering tax benefits costs $5 million. All applicants also pay a $15,000 non-refundable processing fee.
Critics argue the Gold Card favors wealthy individuals over other immigrants. Trump compared it to a green card but emphasized “we want productive people.” He said high-paying applicants could create jobs.
Immigration Crackdown Continues
The launch comes amid a broader immigration crackdown. The administration raised work visa fees, paused applications from 19 countries, and reviewed thousands of asylum approvals.
In September, Trump signed an order charging $100,000 for new H-1B visa applicants applying from abroad. This caused concern for international students and tech companies.
