An Oklahoma man is facing serious federal charges after authorities say he issued violent threats against federal agents on social media. Logan Murfin of Tulsa, OK, has been indicted on ten felony counts, each tied to alleged posts in which he called for harm against federal law enforcement personnel.
According to federal prosecutors, Murfin’s online statements were flagged during a routine monitoring process and quickly escalated into a federal investigation. Officials say the threats targeted federal agents directly, prompting immediate law-enforcement involvement due to the severity of the claims.
Threatening, intimidating, or attempting to interfere with federal agents is a federal crime, and prosecutors emphasized that online threats can carry the same legal weight as threats made in person. Federal authorities say this case serves as a reminder that social media posts encouraging violence or targeting government officials can lead to rapid arrest and prosecution.
Court documents indicate that Murfin allegedly used multiple online posts to advocate harm, which resulted in each post being treated as an individual felony charge. He is now facing the potential for significant prison time if convicted.
Officials also noted that federal agencies take any threat toward government personnel seriously, regardless of whether it is made in a private message, public comment, or social media post.
Murfin will appear in federal court as the legal proceedings move forward.
