Local law enforcement is investigating a death discovered at Walt Disney World in Florida, marking the sixth reported fatality on or near Disney property since October.
According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call late Friday evening at Disney Springs, a popular shopping and entertainment district within the Walt Disney World Resort. The body of an adult male was found inside a parking garage at approximately 9:00 p.m. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials stated that the incident is being examined as a possible self-inflicted death. Authorities emphasized that there are no signs of criminal activity and confirmed that no additional details will be released at this time as the investigation remains ongoing.
New Year – New Death at Disneyland
The discovery represents the first reported death at Disney World in 2026. However, it follows several unrelated fatalities that have occurred across different areas of the resort over the past three months.
Since mid-October, law enforcement has responded to multiple incidents involving guest deaths at various Disney-owned locations, including resort hotels, recreational trails, and entertainment areas. In previous cases, officials cited a range of causes, including medical emergencies and non-criminal circumstances. Authorities have repeatedly stated that the incidents do not appear to be connected.
Walt Disney World is one of the most visited tourist destinations in the world, welcoming tens of millions of guests annually. Public safety experts note that medical emergencies and isolated deaths can occur in large, high-traffic locations, though the recent concentration of incidents has drawn public attention.
Disney has not released a broader statement regarding the series of deaths and has deferred comment to local law enforcement agencies handling each case. Officials continue to stress that guest safety remains a priority and that investigations are conducted thoroughly when incidents occur on resort property.
As authorities review the most recent case, no changes to park operations have been announced, and Disney Springs remained open to visitors throughout the weekend.
