President-elect Donald Trump has criticized officials managing the Los Angeles wildfires, calling them “incompetent” for their failure to control the disaster.
Trump’s Strong Words on Truth Social
In a Truth Social post, Trump expressed frustration over the ongoing fires:
“The fires are still raging in L.A. The incompetent pols have no idea how to put them out. Thousands of magnificent houses are gone, and many more will soon be lost. There is death all over the place.”
He also described the wildfires as one of the worst catastrophes in U.S. history and questioned officials’ ability to manage the crisis.
“They just can’t put out the fires. What’s wrong with them?” he added.
Blame on Governor Newsom and President Biden
Trump’s remarks add to his ongoing criticism of California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) and President Biden, blaming them for the state’s failure to contain the blazes.
Devastation in Los Angeles: Death Toll Rises
As of Sunday, the wildfires have claimed 16 lives, forcing additional evacuations. Los Angeles County has declared a local health emergency as conditions worsen.
According to Cal Fire, the fires have burned over 40,000 acres, destroying homes and displacing thousands.
Factors Fueling the Wildfires
Experts point to multiple factors driving the disaster, including:
- Strong Santa Ana winds
- An unusually dry winter
- Low humidity
- Dense vegetation
The situation remains dire as firefighting efforts continue.
