Angel DuBose claims her life changed forever after attending a holiday party hosted by New York Public Advocate Letitia James back in 2014. What should have been a festive evening, DuBose says, turned into a nightmare of drugging, assault, and betrayal—allegedly at the hands of James’s inner circle.
The shocking accusations resurfaced after nearly eleven years, as DuBose continues to speak out and demand justice.
Allegations of Drugging, Assault, and Silence

According to DuBose, she was working as an outreach coordinator for the Public Advocate’s office, earning $35,000 a year. On December 22, 2014, she attended the office Christmas party at Woodrow’s Bar & Grill in Manhattan.
DuBose says she was drugged by senior staff members, including Ibrahim Khan, who at the time served as Letitia James’s Chief of Staff. She alleges that Khan tampered with her drink before she lost consciousness.
She further claims that she was taken from the venue, not by criminals or strangers, but by employees of the city government. At a nearby apartment, DuBose says she was sexually assaulted by multiple individuals in what she described as a ritual-like event.
Later that night, DuBose says she was abandoned on the streets of New York, barely conscious and unaware of how she got there.
DuBose insists that James’s staff later tried to cover up the incident, telling her she had imagined the events due to alcohol or emotional stress. However, DuBose disputes those claims, stating she was drugged, not drunk, and pointing to records showing she hailed her own cab after waking up on the street.
James’s team also told others that DuBose’s accusations were due to trauma from her mother’s passing. But DuBose says her mother had died 37 years earlier, making the excuse invalid.

Media Attention and Altered Complaints
In 2017, The New York Post published DuBose’s story, reporting her claims against Khan and James. James’s spokesperson at the time, Anna Brower, called the accusations “completely false.”
The article remained online for five years before quietly being taken down, just as new sexual misconduct claims emerged against Khan from other women. Reports suggested that James knew about those accusations but delayed action until after winning re-election.
DuBose also filed an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) complaint shortly after the alleged incident. But documents obtained by reporters show significant differences between DuBose’s original complaint and the version submitted by James’s top aides to investigators.
The altered complaint, stripped of critical details, resulted in the Department of Investigation (DOI) closing the case within four days.

Claims of Evidence Suppression
DuBose also reported the incident to the Manhattan District Attorney’s office in 2017. She says she provided details of the assault and even named James, alleging that the Public Advocate was present in a black car where DuBose was placed while semi-conscious.
But DuBose claims prosecutors removed James’s name from her statement. They allegedly chose not to pursue charges, citing the absence of the word “stop” from DuBose during the assault—even though she was incapacitated.
Supporters of James maintain the accusations are false. Critics, however, argue the disappearance of evidence, altered complaints, and uninvestigated claims point to a deliberate cover-up.
Renewed Public Interest in 2025
With new reports of alleged mortgage fraud investigations involving Letitia James, interest in DuBose’s claims has reignited. Influencers, journalists, and documentary filmmakers are now revisiting the story.
DuBose has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support legal action and public awareness efforts. Despite years of being dismissed, she remains determined to have her voice heard.
The situation raises serious questions about accountability, transparency, and whether city officials acted to silence DuBose in the past.
Following the publication of my first report, which was amplified on social media by Donald J. Trump, I released a second story that also went viral.

Calls for an Independent Investigation
DuBose and her supporters are now demanding a new, independent investigation—one not tied to James’s office, the DOI, or the Manhattan DA.
They argue that with at least a dozen people allegedly involved or aware of what happened that night, the truth can no longer be hidden. If the allegations are false, James has nothing to fear from a thorough investigation. But if they are true, accountability is overdue.
James has repeatedly denied wrongdoing, calling DuBose’s claims an attempt to smear her reputation. Her defenders cite the closed investigations as proof that no crime occurred.
But DuBose maintains her story hasn’t changed in eleven years—and she believes the time has come for the full truth to emerge.
The public, investigators, and independent journalists now face a critical decision: Ignore these claims, or finally investigate them fully, without political influence.
The story isn’t over—and many believe the truth will surface.
