The nearly 100 images released today are not part of the “Epstein files” that the U.S. Department of Justice is scheduled to make public by December 19.
Instead, the photos come from Jeffrey Epstein’s private estate and were released by Democrats on the U.S. House Oversight Committee, who described the move as part of a “transparency” effort.
Earlier today, the committee said it was reviewing over 95,000 photos, some of which Representative Robert Garcia described as “disturbing.” The first batch included 19 images, featuring notable figures such as President Donald Trump, actor Woody Allen, and entrepreneur Richard Branson. Officials emphasized that there is no evidence of wrongdoing by those pictured.
In response, Republicans on the Oversight Committee accused Democrats of cherry-picking photos and applying selective redactions to craft a misleading narrative about President Trump. The White House also condemned the release, calling it an effort to “create a false narrative.”
Following the initial release, Democrats shared over 70 additional photos, largely showing parts of Epstein’s resort on the U.S. Virgin Islands, though the images were released with little context or explanation.
