Residents in a quiet Fair Oaks neighborhood say recurring events tied to California Gov. Gavin Newsom are causing ongoing traffic congestion and parking problems on their residential street.
According to neighbors, a gathering held earlier this week at the large estate resulted in SUVs and other vehicles lining the roadway for hours, including areas clearly marked as no-parking zones. Residents say valet parking for guests took up most available space, making it difficult for locals to drive through or park near their homes.
Residents Say Complaints Were Ignored

One nearby homeowner said the situation became especially frustrating when parked vehicles made it difficult to safely turn on the narrow street. She claimed she contacted security staff multiple times, politely requesting that the blocked areas be cleared.
“They said the cars would be moved, but nothing changed,” she said, adding that neighbors feel their concerns are being dismissed.
Video posted to TikTok shows a long line of vehicles occupying a stretch of road beside a sign that reads “No Parking at Any Time.” Residents argue that the situation could pose safety concerns, particularly for emergency vehicles needing access.
Governor’s Office Responds With Dismissive Statement
A spokesperson for the governor responded to the criticism with a sarcastic statement, downplaying the complaints and framing them as politically motivated. The response, which included holiday-themed remarks, further angered some residents who say the issue is about neighborhood access, not politics.
Property Used for Fundraisers and Private Events
Public reports indicate the Newsom family purchased the Fair Oaks home in 2019 before later moving to a separate luxury residence in Kentfield. Neighbors say the Fair Oaks property is now primarily used for fundraisers and private gatherings, leading to repeated disruptions in what was once a low-traffic residential area.
Residents claim the impact often extends beyond the events themselves. Cleanup activities, including loud trucks and workers, are said to continue well into the following day.

Past Events Raised Similar Concerns
According to neighbors, this is not the first time access has been restricted. A previous fundraiser attended by Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz reportedly brought heightened security and street restrictions, preventing some residents from reaching their homes and forcing canceled appointments.
Neighbors also expressed frustration over the constant presence of idling law enforcement vehicles assigned to provide security, claiming patrol cars remain parked in the area around the clock.
Ongoing Tensions in a Quiet Community
For residents of the Fair Oaks neighborhood, the repeated traffic disruptions have become a growing source of tension. Neighbors say they are not opposed to private events but want better coordination to ensure streets remain accessible and local residents are respected.
