New President-elect Donald Trump and Barack Obama shared a cryptic interaction during Jimmy Carter’s funeral service.
The moment quickly captured online attention, sparking widespread speculation on social media as users pondered the same question: what did two former Presidents and rivals said between eachother?
According to a professional lip reader’s analysis, Trump seemingly suggested to Obama the urgent need to discuss a confidential issue in private during their exchange at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.
Forensic lip reader Jeremy Freeman, analyzing the interaction for the Daily Mail, revealed that Trump told Obama they should “find a quiet place” to discuss a “matter of importance” requiring urgent attention.
The topic of their urgent discussion remains a mystery, though it captured the attention of those nearby, including Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite their longstanding political rivalry and years of public criticism, the two presidents exhibited an unexpected sense of warmth during their interaction. Trump, reacting to the widespread attention the moment received, admitted he was surprised by “how friendly [the exchange] appeared” on camera.
After their conversation Trump on press said: “It did look very friendly, I must say. I didn’t realize it,”
Obama occasionally used his service sheet to shield his words from onlookers, but Freeman was still able to decipher several portions of their exchange.
The conversation reportedly started with casual pleasantries, as Obama remarked, “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine, yeah, fine, fine, fine. Listen to me. It’s a chore, a chore.”
To this, Trump replied, “Yeah, right. I can’t think of anything that’s a chore.”
The exchange carried on with Obama commenting, “Maybe, even the… people, even if they aren’t happy, you will come across it, it’s a chore. Now, they can block the entrance, all right.”
In a particularly compelling moment, Trump leaned in closer to Obama’s ear and remarked, “I’ve pulled out of that. It’s the conditions. Can you imagine that?” Obama responded with a laugh before Trump resumed speaking.
Their conversation seemed to end with plans for a future meeting, including references to what the lip reader interpreted as the “foyer.”
